The United States Postal Service (USPS) does not deliver the mail to one's home here in Alviso. One has to go to the post office in town and pick up their mail. And because of that, all mail needs to be addressed with a P.O. Box number and not a with street address or it will be returned to the sender.
Also, even though Alviso has been a part of San Jose for some time now, all mail is to be addressed with the name of Alviso. This is because the USPS has the zip code of 95002 listed with the name of Alviso (i.e. Alviso, CA 95002). It's a unique situation which the USPS is not going to change anytime soon. This is fine by us Alviso folk, because it helps keep the name Alviso around and the town on the map.
